Industrial Visit was conducted for the 5th semester students of Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering by Government Polytechnic College Kathua to Ranjit Sagar Dam, Shahpur Kandi Punjab. The students were accompanied by faculty members Er Ajay Thapa (I/C Training & Placement Cell), Er Sanam Gupta and Er Rajinder Singh. In the plant the students were taken to the different sections of the hydro electric power plant and apprised about the working of various parts of the power plant. The students got detailed information about the working of turbines, its application, generators, conveyers, hoist and chains used to lift heavy machinery. The students got exposure to the first hand information regarding the working of Hydro Electric Power Projects in real time. The students were also taken to the sight seeing places and beautiful scenic spots around the dam. Er Arun Bangotra, Principal of the college thanked Er Sudhir.K Gupta S.E (Incharge) Ranjit Sagar Dam for allowing the students to visit the power plant and also appreciated the efforts of the faculty members to conduct such industrial visit and asserted that such kind of industrial visits are very informative and exhaustive in nature and provides maximum technical exposures to the polytechnic students making them more compatible with today’s industrial requirement.
