The Training and Placement Cell of Government Polytechnic College Kathua arranges various campus interviews for the candidates of Diploma Engineering and try hard to fill the gap between institute and industry.The cell is very effectively engaged in developing the students in all needed skills and placing in top companies.Students are appraised on continues basis through seminars and workshop etc about higher learning opportunities. The college not only try to place students in top companies but continuously put in efforts to make students as good entrepreneurs so that they don’t become just job seekers rather they become job providers.Placement cell is in process to get live projects / assignment from local industry/companies so that students solve real life problem.The college also organises various industrial visits for the students in local industries, Power Plants and construction sites for better technical exposures.
The first placement drive for the 1st Batch of Pass-out students were conductedUnder UDAAN Scheme by the college in association with Department of Chemicals and Petro Chemicals under Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India and Central Institute of Plastic Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Amritsar.Under UDAAN Scheme which started in year 2010, the youth of Jammu and Kashmir got a bright chances to enhance and grow their careers. UDAAN is a special initiative targeted at connecting the ambitious and progressive youth of Jammu and Kashmir with the best of corporate India. Under the Special Industry Initiative of the Prime Minister, the National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC) and Ministry of Home Affairs have been mandated to work with the corporate sector in bringing about a positive change in the employment and skills space of Jammu and Kashmir. Project UDAAN calls for organizations from across the country to select deserving candidates from the state, provide them training and place them either within their organization or outside or enable them to become entrepreneurs.
The training and placement cell of the college is headed by Mr. Ajay Thapa (M.Tech) Computational Fluid Dynamics from NIT Hamirpur with many years of experience in field as well as academia.The placement officers is assisted by placement coordinators both faculty as well as students coordinators.
